I can’t restore my subscription - help!

How do I contact The Daily?

    Here’s how to restore your subscription:

    Go into The Daily app and click on the carousel button (top right button).

    Once you’re in the carousel view, tap on the arrow on the bottom right of the screen.

    Tap on the settings button on the bottom right (it looks like a spoke) and then Account Information.

    Find the ‘Restore Subscription’ button and tap it. This will restore any existing subscription you have.

    Getting yesterday’s issue? App crashing? Stuck on a screen?

    If you’re having trouble accessing The Daily — it’s stuck on yesterday’s issue, it won’t fully download, it gets stuck on a loading screen, or it’s crashing — it’s often because there are too many apps running in the background, which can be resolved by clearing your cache. Double-click the home button, then press on The Daily icon until it starts to shake and you see a red minus button, then press on that red minus button.  You might also try shutting down other apps that you’re not using at the moment too, to get the device to work more efficiently. This should resolve the issue.

    Other fixes: 

    Try shutting down your iPad and restarting it.

    Make sure your internet connection is stable and functioning at its normal capacity.

    Finally, make sure you have the latest version of The Daily – you can download it here: The Daily (1.1). This version takes care of a lot of stability issues and includes some new features.

    Updating/changing your payment information

    Apple manages all transactions, so this is something you’ll have to do through your iTunes account. You can find your account settings in iTunes either on your computer or your iPad. On your computer, open iTunes and click into the iTunes store. From there, scroll down and lick on Account under the Manage column. On your iPad you can change your account information by clicking on Settings. Click on Store, then Apple ID, then View Apple ID. That will open a box with your account information, which you can edit by clicking.

    Can’t hear the CJ (news anchor) - Several Solutions!

    Some people have reported problems getting the full audio on the news anchor to play properly. Here are some quick solutions to try:

    - Make sure you’re using the most recent version of the app – v 1.1. You can download it from the iTunes store here: The Daily (1.1)

    - Sometimes setting your iPad to lock the orientation has the side effect of muting the audio for parts of certain apps. If your orientation button is locked, try unlocking it and see if that helps.

    - Make sure that the volume is turned up on your iPad, and that the mute button isn’t activated.

    - Disconnect any headsets and check that your volume control (found on the right side panel of the iPad, when it’s held in portrait mode) is set for maximum loudness.

    - You can go to your iPad’s General Settings, then Sounds, to make sure that the volume button is activated — not set for to the far left, on mute. You can also go to the Accessibility section (also under General Settings), to confirm that both ‘Mono Audio’ and ‘Speak Auto-text’ are in the OFF positions. (Note: European models of the iPad have a system control on the volume to ensure regional standards for lower volume.)

    - Try a hard close of your app and then refresh the latest issue of The Daily:

    • Click the home button on your iPad twice quickly.
    • You’ll see the icons of the apps that are open in the background
    • Tap and hold on any of them to make them editable.
    • Tap the red ‘-’ signs that appear on any apps you want to close (including The Daily for a fresh start of that app too).
    • Tap the home button on the front of iPad again to return to your start screens and then restart The Daily.

    Trouble with The Daily? Are you on the latest version?

    First things first: make sure you have updated to the latest version of The Daily!

    The latest version of The Daily addresses many of the issues that some of our readers have encountered, including subscriptions and delivery, plus feature enhancements. Be sure to allow the update to complete before closing out of the app, or shutting down the device.

    Sometimes users get stuck on The Daily logo page. If you’re getting bumped off that page and back to the home screen, try deleting the app and doing a fresh install - this usually fixes this issue.

    First thing’s first. Do you have the latest version of The Daily?

    Before you dive in, The Daily’s current version, v. 1.1, is the most stable and responsive yet, with enhancements to subscription, start-up and weather. If you haven’t updated yet, your first best bet for improving your experience with the app is to do just that.

    Here’s where to download it.

    Once you update, a small percentage of people have reported crashing upon startup.  So far the vast majority these people have fixed their problem by deleting the app and reinstalling fresh.  If that happens to you, you should delete the current version of the app that you have on your iPad. To do that, tap and hold The Daily button on your iPad home screen until an ‘x’ appears and all of the app icons start to wiggle. Tap the ‘x’ to delete your current version. Then download the app to do a fresh install.

    Can I enlarge the font?

    Right now, you can’t enlarge or manipulate the font, but we’re considering this for a future release.
